Pioneer Trail Is Open

Car driving on road

Pioneer Trail has reopened.

The speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph from Village Rd to Kwik Trip, and the repaired section of the road will be a gravel surface until later in the spring, when it can be repaved.

Pioneer Trail repair work started Wednesday, February 13. Work had been delayed due to the recent cold and extreme weather conditions, and with multiple snow events, the contractor had been unable to start repairs.

When the water main broke, it released a significant amount of water. That water undermined the entire roadway, including the westbound lanes. That damage made the road a public safety hazard. While the water main was restored later the same evening, the damaged section of Pioneer Trail between Village Rd and Kwik Trip had to be closed.
