Taiwanese Team Looking For Lodging- Aug & Sept
A team looking to move to the area for practice ice has reached out to the Curling Center asking to send a letter to our membership. If you are able to help or know of options, let us know. Team request letter:
My name is Luis Yin. I currently live in Kansas City and work as a Software Engineer and play second for Team Taiwania, a Taiwanese curling team. We will have the privilege to represent the Chinese Taipei (Taiwanese) national team at the Pre-Olympic Qualification Event this coming October. And perhaps also, the Pacific-Asia Curling Championship in November. Our team also consists of Kevin Cheng (lead), Nelson Wang (vice-skip), and Ting-Li Lin (skip). Kevin is currently studying at the University of Toronto, but due to the pandemic, is taking online courses from Taiwan. Nelson is a high school senior in Vancouver and is graduating this month. His plan is to study Kinesiology at the University of Toronto and play curling for the varsity team. Ting-Li lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and works as a Research Scientist. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our preparation plans have been greatly disrupted in the past 18 months.
Here is a couple of websites with more information on our team and our curling federation:
To prepare for our upcoming events, Nelson, Kevin, and I have decided to relocate to Chaska or the surrounding area so that we can practice together every day. Ting-Li will be making the commute from Madison every weekend to practice with us. We hope to spend every spare time we have, aside from our work and school commitments in the months of August and September, on the ice to best prepare and give ourselves the best chance possible to get a step closer to our goals.
After spending some time searching online and after numerous phone calls, we have come up short of finding a suitable/affordable place for the three of us to stay near the Chaska Curling Center. Our curling federation is limited on funding, so we only get reimbursed for uniforms and a portion of the travel expenses. Aside from that, everything else is self-funded or sponsored by friends and families. We would like to politely ask you guys for help to ask around to see if anybody you know, knows of a place that is furnished with at least the basic furniture, three beds, bathroom, kitchen, and WiFi Internet, and is willing to rent it out to us for August and September. Ting-Li will be ok with sleeping on an air mattress or the couch when he is around on weekends. We are okay with either having the place to ourselves or staying with a host family and sharing the space.
We promise to be very respectful of someone else’s property, to keep the place clean, and to keep the noise level low. We are hoping that the curling community can lend us a hand in helping us achieve our goals!
Thank you in advance & good curling!
