Junior Curling Traveling League

The Twin Cities Curling Association, along with representatives from the four member clubs, has been working on putting together a weekend junior curling program, that includes a traveling league, for the upcoming season. This program and the league would be separate from existing junior / youth programs. Here is a high-level summary of what the current plan is:

  • Two, 8-week sessions on Saturday or Sundays. 8 Weeks before the holidays and 8 weeks after.
  • Cost per session would be $80 per curler and would cover expenses and ice.
  • Curlers would sign up as individuals.
  • A merit program/skills evaluation would be used to construct teams at the beginning of each session
  • The merit program would also be made available for each club to use as a way of evaluating progress within your own club's program.
  • The goal is to give Junior Curlers more chances to play the game, have fun, and meet other curlers.
  • Games would rotate between Blaine, Chaska, Frogtown, and St. Paul

If you have junior age curlers in your household or are a junior curler and think something like this would appeal to you, please participate in the following survey :

If you are interested and do not want to participate in the survey, information will be posted on the TCCA Facebook Page, the TCCA website at and/or you can email

Teen Curling

On September 28, there will be a teen curling event.  It is a non-school day and a perfect time to learn this great Olympic sport.  There will be a two-hour class from 10 am - noon followed by a pizza lunch.  After lunch, participants will practice their skills in a short tournament. Winter League Registration

Registration for our first winter season will be on August 31st at 10 am.  For our league offerings, please visit the league tab on our website.  You can find the league you are interested in, click it, and that will take you to registration.  We've expanded some nights to 3 draws/night.  The Thursday men's league will switch between 7 and 9 pm games.  There are two beginner open leagues- one on Sunday and one on Tuesday.  The experienced open league moves to Monday.  A corporate league is being offered on Wednesdays for employee groups and/or sponsored teams.  If you have a work group that participated in a corporate event or have a business that will help sponsor your team, consider joining this league.

Updated membership count: 1260!!  Absolutely amazing! Thank you all and we are thrilled you enjoy curling in Chaska!  Our current membership runs through September 30th.  New memberships will be yearly and begin Oct 1st.  As a promotion, those purchasing a new membership have the option to enter a drawing to win hotel and event ticket packages to the 2017 Continental Cup of Curling in Las Vegas.  The event is January 12-15th at The Orleans Hotel and Casino.  If you ever get a chance to watch live championship curling- the Continental Cup in Las Vegas is the place to do it!  The event is a competition where the USA and Canada compete against teams from Europe and Asia.  More info can be found HERE.

New memberships will be available to purchase towards the end of August.  In addition, those renting lockers should look to re-up before Oct 1 or remove contents and lock so others may rent it.

Save the date: September 27th

In keeping up with the Ryder Cup theme, the USA men's curling team skipped by John Shuster will compete against Norway's team skipped by Thomas Ulsrud.  Both skips have Olympic and world championship medals and it should be a fun evening of curling.  Stop down and watch the game.  Other details TBD but likely 7pm and hoping to get television crews to tape for Ryder Cup commercials. Also working on opportunities for league teams to play an end against one of the teams in the afternoon.

Learn to Curls

Learn to curls are filling up nicely.  These are great opportunities to try the sport.  The two hour classes cover basics on rules, scoring, etiquette, and on-ice components of delivery and sweeping.  Current offerings are found on the website
